Yesterday the 3rd round of the International Rally World-Championship was started in Sardinia.
This Rally is completely different to the usual desert Rallies. The riders are faced to much more navigation than in the normal desert rallies, direction changes every 100m is not uncommon.
This is the reason why the Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain riders now riding a TE449 instead of their well known TE449RR special rally bike.
Additionally the competitors have to fight the Sardinian hot conditions. Yesterday at the start at 08:12 o'clock already 30 degrees and during the day peaks of 40 degrees in the shadow didn't make riding easier.
After the first day Joan Barreda was in 4th position 1 min 42 sec behind the leader and Paulo Goncalves in 13th place (+9min 08sec). Today is the first marathon day and both of the riders are in a v ery good position to attack the top of the field.
Parallel to the World Championship round the Italian Motorally Championship will take place from the 25th to the 28th in the same area
