JOURNEY FOR A BETTER AFRICA ON THE HUSQVARNA MOTORCYCLES’ 701 ENDURO

A personal challenge for the participants, a cause worth supporting: Safari Kwa Afrika Bora (Swahili for “Journey for a Better Africa”).

This month-long epic trip currently underway across the African continent sees riders tackle a 7,500 km trip, never before attempted on a motorcycle, and this time it is on the Husqvarna 701 ENDURO machine.

Having started on the east coast at Mombasa, Kenya, riders travel all the way to Matadi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including passing through the dense equatorial Congolese jungle. On their journey they are also set to pass the sources of both the Congo and mighty Nile rivers.

The aim is to raise $3 million for the Nos Vies en Partage Foundation; an independent charitable foundation set up by Randgold in 2014, and headed by the company’s former chairman Philippe Liétard. To underline Randgold Resources’ commitment to the charity, its chief executive Mark Bristow is leading his fifth trans-Africa motorbike safari (the fourth under the Nos Vies en Partage banner). Emphasizing its significance, foundation boss Philippe Liétard also travelled with the riders for the first two days of the trip. The charity helps fight poverty in Africa, with a particular focus on needy women and children and riders will be delivering first hand support along the way.

Already by day nine of the 30-day trip pledges had reached the $2 million mark so the boys were well on the way to achieving their fund raising goal.
