Our latest motorsports documentary goes behind the scenes with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, revealing the people, partnerships, and passion behind Husqvarna Mobility’s continued success at the highest level of motocross.

Racing has played an important role in the Husqvarna story for generations. From its early competition motorcycles to the highly developed motocross machines of today, the pursuit of performance has helped shape the brand, its motorcycles, and its approach to development.

Today, that story continues with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing. Competing in the FIM Motocross World Championship, the team combines technical expertise, professional racing experience, and a commitment to developing the next generation of motocross talent.

At the Grand Prix of Flanders in Lommel, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing announced its continued commitment and future ambitions for the years ahead.

    A partnership built for racing

The relationship between Nestaan and Husqvarna dates back to 2014, when Husqvarna returned to the FIM Motocross World Championship and Nestaan supported the team as a joint title sponsor. Over the following years, that relationship grew steadily, before Nestaan took over the full Factory Racing operation in 2020.

Based in Lommel, Belgium, at the heart of European motocross, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing works closely with Husqvarna’s technical operation in Austria. The relationship creates a direct flow of information between the race team and the factory, with experience gathered at the racetrack helping to inform motorcycle development and technical advancements supporting the team’s pursuit of further world championship titles.

Events like these reinforced what Husqvarna motorcycles had always been built for: resilience, performance, and the ability to thrive in the harshest environments. It was in races like these that the brand’s reputation for durability and offroad capability was truly proven.

As the Motorsports team explains in the documentary, this close cooperation plays a major role in the day-to-day operation of the team, creating an efficient connection between racing and R&D.

    Developing the next generation

That long-term approach extends beyond motorcycle development. Identifying and supporting young riders has become an important part of the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing philosophy, with Kay de Wolf providing one of its clearest success stories.

De Wolf first caught the team’s attention while competing on an 85 cc machine as a young teenager. His natural ability stood out, and Husqvarna provided the structure and support for him to develop as he progressed through the ranks.

In 2024, that long-term commitment delivered a landmark result as De Wolf captured Husqvarna’s first FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship. That season also saw the brand take its first MX2 Manufacturers’ World Championship – both fitting achievements in the year Husqvarna celebrated its 120th anniversary.

For de Wolf, the title also fulfilled an ambition that had existed since childhood. As he explains in the documentary, becoming a motocross world champion had always been his goal. His journey from promising young rider to MX2 World Champion demonstrates the value of identifying talent early and providing the environment in which it can develop.
