Ninth on debut at Fox Raceway National for RJ Hampshire in 450MX Class

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire made a successful full-time 450MX debut in Round 1 of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at the Fox Raceway National, charging to ninth overall and displaying front-running form throughout the opener alongside teammate Malcolm Stewart.

Hampshire and his Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition posted the sixth-fastest qualifying time during the morning sessions, before racing to a hard-fought P6 finish in Moto 1 after being in the thick of battle for the duration of the race.

In Moto 2, the 29-year-old was once again inside the front group as the race commenced, however, an early fall relegated him down the order, and a comeback performance was required from there. Hampshire would claw his way back to P12 and earn ninth overall for the round, ticking the goal of a top 10 leaving the opener despite undergoing recent surgery on his wrist.

“Man, it was cool to be here and be competitive,” commented Hampshire. “I’m a man of my word, I said I would be here, and we qualified in sixth, then in the first Moto we were running in the top-five for a while. Pulled off P6 in that one, which was more than expected, then the second Moto I had another good start, but slid out and kind of mailed it in from there. Thankful to be here, top 10 was our goal, so ninth is a solid result to begin with.”

Alongside Hampshire in the premier class was teammate Stewart, who enters this year's AMA Pro Motocross campaign after a successful Supercross season. Stewart would power his Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition to 12th in Moto 1, and was running inside the top 10 in Moto 2, before a late-race crash impacted his result. He was credited P15 overall after an eventful first round.

"Fox Raceway is a tough track,” reflected Stewart. “It’s one of those places that’ll catch you out pretty quickly, which happened to me in Moto 1, where I fell and then came back to 12th place. Moto 2, I had a decent start, and then ended up making another mistake in the back section and went down pretty hard. I had to regroup, call it a day, and I’m just thankful that it wasn’t anything too crazy that will put me out, so we’ll just rest up and get ready for Hangtown."

A sixth-place finish overall signaled another step forward for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire during Round 5 of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Southwick, with 450MX teammate Malcom Stewart ultimately salvaging 10th overall. Equipped with the Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition, Hampshire posted the eighth-fastest qualifying time during the morning sessions, before climbing through the field after a first turn pile-up in Moto 1 to an impressive eighth-place result. In Moto 2, the 29-year-old toughed out the deteriorating track conditions, racing to a season-high moto finish of fourth position following an inpspired late-race charge. Hampshire would complete the weekend in sixth overall and maintains P6 in the 450MX standings. “Pretty solid day here in Southwick,” reflected Hampshire. “I felt good in qualifying, and then a first turn pile-up in Moto 1 had me in pretty much last place. We were strong all race to come back to eighth, and I knew all I needed was a better start for the second one. We got that, and plugged away from there on a tough track, and it feels good to get my first top-five moto score with P4 in that one. We'll take it and look forward to RedBud next weekend." Stewart and his Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition returned to action for a top 10 finish overall in Massachusetts, with a 12-10 race scorecard despite facing his share of adversity this afternoon seeing him climb to 11th in the championship standings. "Southwick was a battle, for sure!" Stewart said. "Went down first moto in the turn, and my starts were killing me all day. Rode strong, but was buried in the pack, and this isn’t the track where you wanna come from behind. Still made a lot of great passes, learned a ton, and I’m taking that momentum into RedBud. Let’s keep building!" Next Race: July 5 – RedBud, Michigan Results 450MX Class – Southwick National 1. Jett Lawrence (Honda) 2. Hunter Lawrence (Honda) 3. Eli Tomac (Yamaha) 6. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s RJ Hampshire races to eighth overall at High Point

Eighth position overall marked another impressive weekend out for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire in Round 4 of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at High Point, maintaining sixth in the 450MX standings. Equipped with the Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition, Hampshire posted the fifth-fastest qualifying time during the morning sessions, before charging through the field to a well-earned P6 result in Moto 1. The skies opened up during Moto 2 of 450MX this afternoon, with premier class newcomer Hampshire posting a measured ride amongst touch, rain-affected conditions to finish in eighth position. That ride also placed him eighth overall for the weekend, and his consistent Mt. Morris performance sees him hold sixth in the championship. “All in all, it was a really solid weekend,” reflected Hampshire. “Came out with another P6 in Moto 1 and felt like I rode well, then the skies opened in Moto 2, and it became all about survival. Another weekend in the six-to-eight range, so we'll make use of the weekend off and go to work, get stronger, and aim for that top-five at Southwick." High Point presented an unfortunate day for teammate Stewart, who was running in 10th place onboard his Husqvarna FC 450 Factory Edition during the opening Moto, before a fall ultimately spelt the end for both his race and the remainder of the day. He received medical attention to a cut on his chin, which ruled him out for Moto 2. "It was unfortunate for Malcolm to finish the weekend early, but we will look forward to the weekend off and then come out swinging after the break," commented Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team Manager Nathan Ramsey. "He took a handlebar to the chin, but he is super-tough, and we know he will bounce back quickly. The promise is there – it is just a matter of putting it together during the motos and making them count. Aside from that, it was another consistent weekend from RJ, who has been really impressive since stepping up to 450MX outdoors."
