With oil and air bypasses reducing pressure peaks, in combination with a mid-valve damping system the fork provides exceptional feedback and rider comfort. A new hydrostop system creates a more progressive damping force in the last 40 mm of travel for improved bottoming resistance.

Engine

The new SOHC, 450 cc engine is the result of advanced engineering techniques and tips the scales at just 59 lb (26.8 kg). Mass-centralization of the key components was key during the design process, as was repositioning the engine closer to the center of gravity for improved handling and agility. This was achieved by tilting the engine 2 degrees backwards, which resulted in the countershaft sprocket being positioned 3 mm lower. The end result is significantly improved anti-squat behavior from the chassis for smoother acceleration on rough terrain.

Featuring a redesigned and incredibly compact SOHC cylinder head that places the camshaft as close as possible to the center of gravity, overall handling and agility is significantly enhanced. Complete with lightweight valves actuated via a rocker arm, the timing is designed to create improved torque and a precise throttle response. Connecting the head to the chassis, parallel frame mounts improve the chassis flex characteristics while retaining unrivalled stability.

Inside the 95 mm bore, the CP bridged-box-type piston features anodized annular grooves for added durability and longer service intervals. Redesigned for 2022, the Pankl Racing Systems five-speed gearbox maintains it's low weight and incredible durability. The addition of a new Quickshift sensor fitted to the shift drum ensures smoother upshifts, even when the engine is under heavy load. A low-friction coating on the shifting fork further enhances positive gear changes.

The FC 450 Rockstar Edition is equipped with a revised DDS (Dampened Diaphragm Steel) clutch. Unique in design, the exclusive characteristics of this system include a single diaphragm steel pressure plate, instead of traditional coil springs, with an integrated damping system for better traction and durability. Complete with a CNC-machined steel clutch basket adapted for the new five-speed transmission, the single-piece component allows the use of thin steel liners and contributes to the compact design of the engine.

Brembo brakes deliver class-leading braking performance. With a 260 mm floating front disc and a 220 mm wave rear disc, the incredible stopping power allows for late braking, which leads to faster lap times. For added protection, a new polyamide composite front disc protector is fitted.

This clever functionality works by a sensor on the shift drum sending a signal to the ECU, which momentarily interrupts the ignition for a fraction of a second when it registers the force from the shift lever. Quickshift can easily be activated or deactivated via the handlebar-mounted Map Select Switch.

Resigned for easier operation, the handlebar-mounted Map Select Switch allows for either of the two preset engine maps to be selected. With additional buttons for engaging launch and traction control, as well as one to activate the new Quickshift functionality, the performance of the FC 450 Rockstar Edition is fully customizable via the Map Select Switch.
